Do the Norwalk Juicer Rip And Squash

Author: Rika Susan

The Norwalk Juicer is the personification of the beliefs of Dr. Norman W. Walker of the Norwalk Laboratories of Health Research, one of the first raw juice therapy experts.

Dr. Walker's interest in helping others to incorporate a rejuvenating, raw food regimen into their lives, prompted the development of the original hydraulic press juicer almost a century ago. This machine later evolved into the Norwalk Juicer as it is known today.

As a triturator hydraulic press juicer, the Norwalk Juicer has a wide support base, both in design and on the world wide web. Many raw food advocates won't hear of using anything other than their Norwalk, largely because of the rich history behind the juicer.

Let's see what you can do with a juicer priced a bit on the steep side, compared to some of the standard models.

The Norwalk Juicer Model 270 combines what is called a vortex triturator with an hydraulic press. The former cuts and grinds, and the latter extracts all the nutritious goodies from the pulp.

The freshly pressed juice comes packed with loads of enzymes, vitamins, and trace minerals due to this extraction method, as less heat is generated in the process than with centrifugal juicers, such as the Breville.

This process also minimizes oxidation. Another advantage is that you will get at least 50% more juice, than with some of the standard juicers.

The robust Norwalk Juicer with its powerful 50/60 cycle motor, can be used anywhere in the world. The unit is constructed of solid stainless steel, and is made to withstand heavy usage. You will have no safety concerns while using the juicer.

The grid holder is easily accessible While processing. Your produce and other foods come into contact with stainless steel only. No plastic is used in this juicer! Apart from the stainless steel casing, there is also an attractive Pecan Woodgrain finish available.

There are varied opinions about how easy it is to assemble the different components of the Norwalk Juicer. As is often the case when it comes to extractors, the cleaning process also leads to a heated debate!

Norwalk converts are more than willing to allow for a bit of a learning curve to squeeze the most from their favorite juicer. And there certainly seems to be a wide variety of uses for the machine. If it is juiceable, the Norwalk is usable.

The juicer's main function is to turn fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens, into nutrient-rich, pulp free juice. Additional features allow you to puree baby food, to mill flour, to make ground coffee, nut butters, perfectly chopped salads, and heavenly frozen desserts.

Use it to process cheese, grind pepper, and to make soup. If you love cereals, you will love your Norwalk. Combine your favorite, healthy mixtures of ground wheats, corn, oats, or any other grains. Even pets are catered for and can enjoy freshly ground food.

It really seems as if the Norwalk juicer does it all!

Every experienced juicer knows that those pesky leafy greens, such as spinach and wheat grass, present a challenge at times. While getting familiar with your Norwalk, and its love-hate relationship with greens, overheating may raise its ugly head. With a bit of practice, you will learn to juice carrots with the greens, or to experiment with a different grid.

However, if you don't have patience for problems like clogging, overheating, or time-consuming cleaning, do some serious homework before you buy. If you and your Norwalk juicer are constantly at odds, it will do more harm than good, as far as your health is concerned!

Dr Walker wrote numerous books on nutrition, and juicing in particular. One of the most popular books is 'Fresh Vegetables And Fruit Juices'. This was one of the first books about the therapeutic uses of juiced fruit and vegetables. It also lists the nutritional values of the different fruits and veggies.

His legacy also includes other books, such as 'Vegetarian Guide To Diet And Salad', 'The Natural Way To Vibrant Health', and 'Become Younger'.

Dr. Walker probably couldn't foresee the development of a world wide web, or a virtual Norwalk Juicer community with a fierce loyalty to his product.

He would have been pleased as punch!
