Physical Being, are You at Your Best?

Author: Lynne Dean

Are you aware of your energy level? Being conscious, knowing and understand of your physical ability will help you readjust and refocuse your plan of action for the day.

Awareness of your body.

Optimizing the ability to live to your fullest. Asking yourself a few questions will help adjust your day.

How is my attention span?
Am I bored?
Do I have low energy?
Am I sleepy?
Am I over stimulated?

Whatever energy level you have at the time, you must work with it. It wont change a thing to be mad at yourself for being tired as soon as you get up in the morning.

Again, acknowledging it, adjusting your day according to your energy is the first step. Then try finding the reason why you might feel that way.

How are you going to achieve the level of energy you desire?

By changing your eating habit?

By changing your sleeping pattern?

By changing your organization skills?

By changing your communication skills?

How about your exercise schedule?

One thing is sure; everybody wants to have a functioning life. Lack of basic elements such as sleep depravation, lack of nutrients and poor exercise habits contribute to your level of energy.

Suggestions:

  • A few early nights, or naps during the weekend. Skip the TV programs, have a bath and go to bed. Send your partner with the kids to the movies and take that time to relax/nap.

  • High fat meals are hard to digest, it makes you lethargic. Try to have lighter meals, see if a lighter lunch or lighter supper works for you and your level of energy.

  • And yes, exercising. You dont have to go all sweaty on that one. Go for a brisk walk during the day, regularly. Or take it literally and make it an habit of doing an aerobic exercise 3 to 4 times a week. Early in the morning, during your lunch hour, right after work and during weekend with your family (pool, badminton, skiing, jogging, cycling ect.)

  • Know your level of energy and plan your day accordingly. High level of energy in the morning? Do what requires the most energy then and keep the smaller, less stressful stuff for the afternoon.

  • Emotionally angry, tired or over stimulated? Try channeling the energy towards chores that needs to be done with the same level of energy; take that walk much needed. Try relaxation techniques.

  • Be flexible. Dont go against your energy level change your plan as you go.

  • Moderate your intake of artificial stimulant ex: chocolate, sweets, coffee, soda, alcohol. They are all temporary stimulant. Its only an illusion of regaining energy; it wont help you replenish your battery in the long run.

Its important to take care of your physical being. Your body is the medium of your soul and hearth. Take good care of it and it will take care of you.

"Our deepest fears is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? Your playing small doesn't serve the world." -Marianne Williamson (RETURN TO LOVE)
