Lack of Commitment

Author: Lance Winslow

If you have played serious sports in your life you know that amongst the top performers is a trait, which has kept them there and you also know that if your team is to win, then all of you must have this trait. Commitment.

It is amazing as we look at corporate executives and workers in nearly every industry how little commitment they all have? Indeed even in our government, well they just show no commitment at all? If there is a construction man using a tool, which makes noise in a Washington DC Parking garage someone calls in a gunshot and everyone turns a 3-Day Weekend into a 4-Day Holiday. If there is an important bill on immigration and illegal aliens, well everyone heads for the hills and goes on vacation? Total lack of commitment you see?

But it is not just at the leadership level in government it is at all levels; city, county, state and federal. The blob of bureaucracy does not reward commitment or dedication very much; oh sometimes they do, but more often than not, if you out perform everyone else it is amazing how much others despise you for making them look bad.

If you work in a company where someone is not pulling their weight so often they make up for this in a very destructive way; they continually make excuses and this is rather unenlightening indeed. It is as if the fantasy reality of The Apprentise TV Show moved into the real world and people actually believe this is acceptable. I have always found the best way to get others to commit is to show them and lead by example; May I ask what is taking so long?
