Mayflower Societies Should Require Multiple Genealogy Links

Author: Lance Winslow

Being a member of the Mayflower Society is suppose to be a special thing, yet with hundreds of thousands of people eligible it appears that there are now some issues. Indeed when discussing this with others who have genealogy and ancestral line of those with the Mayflower Passenger list it appears there are issues with dilution.

That is to say that many of the folks who join the Mayflower Societies and there are over 20 such societies now have only one genealogy ancestral link. Well having only one link in that number of generations is clearly a dilution of sorts and so if the Mayflower Societies are indeed honest of their elitist statement and clubs then they need to set the bar much higher. Let us say you must have at least four or five direct ancestral links. One is simply not enough.

Additionally, I am probably related to more Mayflower descendants than anyone you have ever met in your life. Nevertheless a new member of one of the societies who had only one link on his mothers side claimed that he was better than I because he had joined a Mayflower Society. Interesting, because with an attitude like that, they should probably kick him out. But really this is a petty and silly comment of his.

So I asked him; Why would you call to harass me like this? Are you jealous my dear Sir? Well, you shouldn't be feeling inferior because you can only trace "ONE" mere line back to a Mayflower family. You see my good man; many Mayflower ancestry lines are crossed too closely and lead to inbreeding. My lines don't cross like that but rather seem to have led back to individuals passers on the Mayflower, nevertheless many multi-Mayflower descendants do cross too many times and too close together.

Indeed, the belonging to a group such as the Mayflower Society is irrelevant to Bloodlines anyway. Your blood is the answer; it is in the genes, not a group of humans participating in primate politics. It has nothing to do with which groups one joins.

Clearly I have proved my genes in so many endeavors it ought to be evident even without the ancestral research back-up proof above. So to me it is irrelevant, because I know who I am. But if proof is what you want I have provided it and you can look it all up yourself. Actually I cannot believe I even answering your email really, as it seems rather spiteful and vindictive.

I would like you to send me back an apology for your slanderous accusations against my family names and myself. You may reply to this email address "one time only" to dutifully secure your apology and clear your name. Any more than one email will be considered SPAM. Good Day Fine Sir, Lance.

Now then if folks who have only one genetic line tracing to the Mayflower Passenger list are allowed to join and cannot control their elitist arrogance and attack other Mayflower Ancestry then the Mayflower Societies will become a circus and certainly not worthy of their high stature of the past. Consider all this in 2006.
