Cleveland Indian In The Bushes, Scott Sauerbeck Pleads Not Guilty

Author: Mark Barnes

Does it not always seem like there is either a scandal, or some sort of drama when it comes to professional sports? Well one would consider finding an Indian in the bushes drama, a Cleveland Indian that is. Take for example Scott Sauerbeck, the Cleveland Indians Pitcher, who was arrested this week for impaired driving, and obstructing official business.

Sauerbeck and a female by the name of Lily Miller, were seen by a patrolman weaving in and out of the lane they were driving in. once the police took chase on the vehicle, Sauerbeck and Miller took to foot and fled the vehicle which is owned by Sauerbeck. Both Sauerbeck, and Miller were apprehended, while hiding behind a patch of bushes.

Both Sauerbeck and Miller were charged with the same offence, and were to appear in Avon Lake Municipal Court, which is located 50 kilometers outside of Cleveland. By the pretrial date the 34-year-old Sauerbeck, had his attorney fax a plea of not guilty into the Sheffield Village prosecutor D. Chris Cook. This is not an uncommon practice in the municipal court system, cook stated. Miller was given the same court dates as Sauerbeck, and has filed her Not Guilty Plea with the courts as well by way of fax, trial is set for July 11th 2006. Since the arrest, Sauerbeck has not appeared in a game for Cleveland however, on Tuesday he did apologize to teammates and his family.
